U.S. Department of Labor Invites Applications for Green Capacity Building Grants.
The U.S. Department of Labor's (DOL's) Employment and Training Administration announced the availability of $500 million for projects that prepare workers for careers in the energy efficiency and renewable energy industries described in Section 171(e)(1)(B) of the Workforce Investment Act. The grants are designed to teach workers the skills required in emerging energy efficiency and renewable energy industries. Eligible applicants are limited to organizations that are current DOL grantees. The Department expects to award between 50 and 100 grants, ranging from $50,000 to $100,000. The U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration announced the availability of approximately $150 million for projects that provide training and placement services to provide pathways out of poverty and into employment within industries described in the Supplementary Information, Part B of this Solicitation for Grant Application.

Youth Service America is accepting applications for its 2010 Global Youth Service Day (April 23-25, 2010). The grants are designed to assist organizations to be a "Lead Agency" in increasing participation in their programs while connecting with the larger youth service movement. Lead Agencies will receive a $2,000 GYSD planning grant sponsored by State Farm Companies Foundation, travel support to attend the Youth Service Institute in Washington, D.C., and direct assistance from Youth Service America to ensure a successful Global Youth Service Day.
