Register your business ASAP!

To all businesses interested in increasing the business they can do in Wyandotte County and the surrounding area, great opportunities are ahead. Unified Government of Wyandotte County, Kansas City Kansas is in the process of preparing an ordinance to enhance supplier diversity programming within their departments and on projects they finance or support in part. In order to position your business to take advantage of these opportunities there are a few things you must do.

First and foremost, get your business certified as a Woman or Minority-Owned business. In order for prime contractors and developers to take advantage of future bids, they will probably have to show an effort was taken to seek out businesses owned by women, minority and disadvantaged business concerns. Second, get plugged into a resourceful agency to work with you on developing your strategy, paperwork, and other ongoing assistance as needed. You don't have to work in the dark or alone. Finally, visit the link below and register your companys ASAP. If you need help; get it!

To get in position for enormous projects and developments that will take place in Wyandotte County, certification will be key and you can only be able to indicate that you are M/W/DBE if you have the proper certification on file. Out of sight-Out of Mind!

For businesses in Wyandotte, Leavenworth and Johnson county, agencies such as IBSA, the Kansas Women's Business Center, the Kansas Black Chamber of Commerce, SBDCs, the Workforce Partnership Workforce Centers,,,, are at the ready to help you and your business succeed. There was a tremendous amount of disparity in public funded contracting identified in a Wyandotte County disparity report and this and other initiatives are an honest pre-effort to begin to address them now, and to lay the groundwork for progressive policies for future developments. Don't be left out; only to be complaining later because you chose to do your part. Finally, it is important for your business to have an email accout; although it is not required to register with Unified Government of Wyandotte County. Reason being is that more developers and prime contractors send bid information via email than phone calls or traditional mail. Use technology to give you up-to-date information!
